OKC Landrunners

Following a large race, runners often lose their drive and incentive to continue training. Now that the streets of Oklahoma City are cleared and the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is complete, how can runners keep consistent training?
Oklahoma City is home to the Landrunners, an Oklahoma City running club. The Landrunners encourage new members of all running levels to support healthy and recreational running. Group running provides many benefits from peer inspiration to staying safe. Spring training for the Landrunners is already well underway, but anyone is always welcome to join.
The Landrunners’ community is a great way to stay in touch with events and training around the Oklahoma City metro area. Vitsit www.okcrunning.org for more details.

Staying Focused

It can be difficult to find motivation when runners are confined to a circular track. However there are a few tips to help keep runners alert.
It is important to change up running routes in order to not become complacent. Try running new routes and if you are able, run outside. The change of scenery and fresh air is usually a refreshing energy boost. When you find yourself loosing interest in your run, set small goals for yourself, and talk your way through keeping a pace.
Another important way to keep runs enjoyable is to run both on and off the treadmill to keep your runs exciting. A new song playlist on an mp3 player can also keep things interesting.
In order to keep motivation runners should always try to enhance their runs and make them interesting. Remember finding a running partner can also be a great way to stick to your goals.

Norman Running Routes

Finding a quality and safe place to run in Norman sometimes seems like a nightmare. One website makes mapping a run more simple. Www.mapmyrum.com provides running routes throughout Norman provided by local runners. However there are a few helpful hints runners should know about the routes.
Runs listed on the site include distances from half of a mile to over 30 miles, but some have issues. For instance, part of the route for a six-mile run included running through trees and what can be assumed as a dirt trail. This is an issue if it has just rained or if you are a pavement runner. Also some runs include streets that do not have sidewalks. This can be hazardous to the night runner or if the street has high traffic.
Having a map for local running routes will save a runner a lot of time and effort. However, do research on the routes before hitting the pavement. Remember it is the general public who posting these routes, not running experts.
